Alok Shukla is telling us about thousands of landless farmers in Kurud area in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh who got land 30-35 years ago under Land ceiling act. Now govt is taking them back. Some never got possession and got beaten up by police when tried to take possession. Now some officials are helping people sitting on those lands to sell to others not obeying a High Court order. Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Alok Agrawal is calling us from Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh where he is reporting on 3rd day of Jal Satyagraha movment of Omkareshwar dam displaced people on river Narmada. Courts have accepted that people from over 30 villages have not been rehabilitated and ordered that dam will not be filled unless rehabilitation is complete but govt is filling up the dam and people are standing on rising water with a vow of not moving. Forest dept few days back had destroyed standing crop of adivasis there to plant trees. Today after a notice when the adivasis tried to take the trees to Govt land they were arrested.
