Jeetanram Pahadi Korwa is calling from village Salkheta, post Kumarta in Dharmajaigarh block of Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh. He says 35 Pahadi Korwa adivasis had filled up forms for Forest Rights Act in 2008 but so far only 16 of us have got the land deeds. Earlier this month we recorded a message on CGnet and since then we are flooded with phone calls from officers and they are saying before Dussehra all of us will get land deeds and they are suggesting other Pahadi Korwas should also fill application. They were offered Rs 200 per day but it is more than 4 months and they are waiting for payments. They were given a token amount of Rs 1600 each so far. Kanchan Mahto of Biahi Mahua mohalla in Pachmo Panchayat of Gomia block in Bokaro district of Jharkhand has worked for forest department as a guard for 32 months but have got paid only for 5 months so far. He has got some advances at the time of festivals but he says more than Rs 52,000 is due which Tenughat forest department is not paying. He has complained to officers but that has not helped.
