Jharkhand villagers protest extension of Tata Iron ore mines

Subash Gayali from Jharkhand tells us that Pollution control department has arranged a public hearing in Nuamundi in West Singhbhum district for clearance of extension of a Tata Iron ore mines. People are protesting because the iron ore mines have increased pollution in the area and have not fulfilled their past promises. Police beats up people protesting coal mine in Public hearing

Subash Gayali from Jharkhand says administration arrnaged a Public hearing on 15th Feb in Hazaribagh town hall for a coal mine 40 kms away from the location, which is illegal. In the hearing company had given special clothes to their supporters for identification and rest were beaten up by police including many women. 2 were arrested and false statement has been taken from them. Company buying farmers land by force to build a factory

Subhash Gayali from Dhanbad district of Jharkhand says a company called ONGC is trying to build a factory in a village and is trying to buy lands from villagers by force. The company is not offering any jobs to local youth or facilities to farmers. Villagers have done a dharna and the company has now assured to respond to the demands by one week. Demand intensifies for enquiry on Sister Valsa John murder

Subhash Gayali from Ranchi is telling us about a protest meeting against gruesome killing of social activist Sister Valsa John. More than 100 peoples organisations from Jharkhand took part in the meeting and decided to intesify the demand for higher level enquiry of the murder under the banner of Jharkhand Bachao Andolan. Companies are cheating us, tells Jharkhand villagers...

Subhash Gayali is telling us about a one day token hunger strike in front of Raj Bhavan in Ranchi by villagers from East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. He says people said they wanted to protest on various breach of contracts by companies. They alleged that Uranium thrown by UCIL is affecting people’s lives but we are told that Uranium Corporation is under PMs office so state Govt can not help.
