NREGA: Primitive tribe Korwas have got no work so far!
Bindeshwari Painkra from Kachnar Adivasi Vikas Sanstha in Surguja is Chhattisgarh is talking to some Korwa primitive tribals in a village up in the hills. They tell him that though they have NREGA cards but they have never got any work on that. They dug a well last year after Panchayat asked them them to do so but they are yet to get payment for the same. Teachers come rarely, Never get mid day meal: Korwa tribals
Bindeshwari Painkra from Kachnar Adivasi Vikas Samiti in Surguja in Chhattisgarh is visiting a Pahari Korwa village up in the hills. He is talking to people their about the school and finds out that there are 2 teachers in the school and they rarely come. There was some mid day meal before an inspection but that has also stopped. Holi reporting, songs and drums from remote Korwa village
Bindeshwari Painkra this Holi went to a remote village in Surguja district in Chhattisgarh where primitive Pahari Korwa tribes live to celebrate the festival. Amidst the sound of drums and adivasi Holi songs he tells us that the life of these Pahari Korwas are very difficult. They do not get any work under NREGA. No NREGA work for primitive Korwa tribals so far!
Bindeshwari Lal Painkra from Kachnar Adivasi Vikas Sanstha in Surguja Chhattisarh is visiting a village for primitive tribe Korwas and discovers while talking to them that they have not got any NREGA work at all. They say though NREGA work started in the village but it went to others. Govt schemes are not reaching them. Some houses were broken by elephants in 2010. No compensation yet. Rs11000 bribe to get support of Rs4000: Tribal development
Bindeshwari Painkra is visiting a village of Korwa primitive tribes and during a casual discussion he discovers that sarpanch and influential people are taking away major portion of support meant for poor. He speaks to one person who said he had to give Rs 5000 to sarpanch for his Indira Awas Yojna.
