Bineshwar Nayak from Ramgarh district of Jharkhand is telling us how absense of a good connecting road to his village is obstructing development there. He says 4000 people live here but no vehicle can come to our village. Students can not go to good school, farmers can not take their crops to market and no body wants to get married in our village. Prakash Oraon from village Newari in Latehar district of Jharkhand says that people in his village are protesting against work of TCML ( A joint venture of Hindalco and Tata Power) from a week but the company is contuning their work. He alleges that for breaking the people’s resistance company is using brokers who are supplying liquor and other intoxicating stuff to people in the village. Bindeshwari Lal Painkra from Kachnar Adivasi Vikas Samiti in Sitapur block in Surguja, Chhattisgarh says his organisation is studying NREGA from 2010 and they have not found even a single instance where payment was made in time in their block. He says people who have done no work have got payment for 100 days. In one village people have not been paid NREGA wages for 3 years now. Bineshwar Nayak is a Dalit boy in a village in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand. He is telling us that 1500 upper caste people today have beaten up 300 Dalits in his village. Dalit leader Sukha Nayak is seriously injured. Dalits have developed some forest land to cultivable but upper caste people want Dalits to continue to work as labors in their land. Bineshwar says upper caste people have also got the lands registrered in their name after bribing forest officials, that was the reason of today’s conflict.
