Forest Rights: Gram Sabha approved but forest dept rejected our applications...

Naresh Bunkar is visiting Birjunagar village under Putputa panchayat in Pandariya block of Kabirdham district in Chhattisgarh and talking to adivasis who say 36 adivasi families whose application was approved by village gram sabha has not been approved by forest dept which is illegal as they don’t have such right under forest rights act . Baiga adivasis waiting for second installment of house support from 4 years...

Naresh Bunkar is visiting Chiyadand village under Dalamahua panchayat in Pandariya block of Kabirdham district in Chhattisgarh and talking to villagers who tell him that Baiga Awas was sanctioned to 10 of them around 4 years back and they got first installment of 19, 500 Rs. but remaining amount 25, 500 is still pending. After 5 years and Rs 50 lakhs village dam serves no purpose, Pls investigate...

Naresh Bunkar is visiting Selegaon village in Bhanupratappur block of Kanker district in Chhattisgarh where he finds a stop dam where work started in 2010 at the cost of Rs 49 lakhs 94,000 but the work is yet to be completed.According to board there Rs 19 lakh 98,000 was spent on labor payment and Rs 29 lakhs 96,000 on material. Dam complete, houses will get submerged in monsoon, no rehabilitation yet...

Kishan Waghmare is telling about 22 Kolami adivasi families in Bara (Sunegaon) village in Aarvi taluka of Wardha district of Maharashtra. Govt is making a dam there and it is feared that this monsoon 22 houses will get submerged. The adivasi families are demanding that as per rehabilitation policy alternative houses for them should be built then only they will move. They are meeting officers from 2 years but no one helps. 180 of us applied for land deeds under forest rights act twice but no reply yet...

Naresh Bunkar is visiting Bangabari village in Narharpur block of Kanker district in Chhattisgarh where 300 adivasi families live. They tell him that 180 of them are working on forest land at Tilaibarri and Banspani from before December 2005 and have applied for Forest Rights Act twice after getting recommended by Gram Panchayat but have not heard back.
