May Day has become a ceremonial function only...

He says laborers are not aware of their rights and many misuse this ignorance. They also do not know about minimum wage and working hour rules of NREGA. No pension to Old, widow, handicaps, complaints dont work...

Prakash Gupta is telling about a village where Old, widow and handicapped people are not getting their govt pensions for months together. Postman has kept the passbooks and get signed it for all the months with connivance of sarpanch though pays only for a month after an interval of 3/4 months. 32 People have sent their complaint in March but still there is no action. Police case against NREGA whistle blower in Surguja

As you may recall Prakash Gupta had sent a report from Bilaspur village in Batauli block of Surguja district on 5th March where some laborers had got Rs 70 as wages in NREGA work ( instead of 100) and some did not get any. After the report went out on 8th March administration had conducted an enquiry. The report of the enquiry is not out yet but Sarpanch and Secretary of the village has filed a report against Prakash and his father accusing them of obstructing NREGA work also in special police station for scheduled tribes. After hearing about the case other panchs and villagers from Bilaspur has written to police to enquire the entire episode and punish the culprits. Prakash can be reached at 07697852665

NREGA : Govt conducts enquiry 3 days after report on Swara

Prakash Gupta from Ambikapur says 3 days back on 5th March I had reported about less and non payment in NREGA work in Batauli block of Surguja district. Today an officer from the district came to the panchayat to investigate and spoke to concerned laborers who told the officer that they have got wages at the rate of Rs 70 instead of Rs 100. NREGA : Lucky ones get less wages, rest unpaid after 18 months

Prakash Gupta in Bilaspur village of Batauli block of Surguja district is interviewing two laborers who have got wages of Rs 70 per day after working in NREGA when the wage rate was Rs 100 at that time which has now gone up.
