Dantewada : No NREGA payment from 6 months!
Zila Panchayat members of Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh have alleged that in two blocks Chhindgarh and Sukma of the district 35,000 workers have not got any MGNREGA wages in last 6 months and the amount of due is more than Rs 2.5 crore. The members said this is a Naxal affected area and workers take a lot of risk for working but when they went to meet CO to complain about it, he refused to meet them. Observations from a trip to home, a tribal village in Jharkhand
Santosh Tudu is an engineer and lives in Ranchi. Last week he went to his village and wants to share his observations. Adivasis getting raw deal in loan disbursement in Dantewada
Yashwant Ramteke is talking to two entrepreneur adivasi boys who had applied for bank loans after being cleared from Khadi & Gramodyog dept and Pradhanmatri Rozgar Yojna. Yashwant says there are many such cases in this adivasi district and government should be more careful in stopping these adivasi youth in getting diverted in other direction by engaging them in these employment schemes. Dam costed 1 crore but village depends on dying hand pump!
Yashwant Ramteke from Dantewada says as the summer is just arriving the water problem is again becoming severe. He gives example of a village near Dantewada where Public Health department has made a check dam spending Rs 1 crore. But soon after its completion cracks have developed and the village is again dependent on tube well which are getting repaired. Liquor shops not stationed according to Excise policy
Yashwant Ramteke says according to recently announced Excise policy all the liquor shops should be at a distance from school, hospital and main roads. But if you travel around Chhattisgarh you will find shops just next to these institutions and there is no effort to close them even after the policy announcement. He says in Dantewada there are liquor shops next to the famous temple which should also be removed to far off place
