Bindeshwari Lal Painkra from Kachnar Adivasi Vikas Samiti in Sitapur block in Surguja, Chhattisgarh says his organisation is studying NREGA from 2010 and they have not found even a single instance where payment was made in time in their block. He says people who have done no work have got payment for 100 days. In one village people have not been paid NREGA wages for 3 years now. Since then minister and secretary has promised for speedy wage payment. But today he is visiting a village called Mangari where more than 50 people have not been paid their wages for more than a year and are planning to go to city in search of work.
