Live report from adivasi rally demanding self rule in Bastar
Mangal Kunjam from Bastar is reporting from a rally of tribals protesting in thousands on the road demanding sixth schedule being implemented in tribal areas of Chhattisgarh. They say that the PESA law is not being properly implemented. The tribals want to live in peace and in accordance with the self rule provided in sixth schedule of Indian constitution. Demand for return of land after mining lease is over
Subhash Gayali from Jharkhand is telling us about a regional meet about mining and land in Dhanad district. The main issue was the practices of BCCL which had the rights to mine upto 2005, however they continued and in 2006, 50 mine labourers lost their lives. Where the mining is finished also, the land has not been leveled for farming, nor is their any return of the land to the people, who want the authorities to take note and solve the long pending issues. BPL card requests get no response despite promise
Brijesh Yadav from Rewa in Madhya Pradesh says about 400 adivasi and dalit families applied for the BPL cards last year. As promised and much advertised in the Public Service Guarantee act the cards should have been delivered in 30 days. However On following up with the Tehsildar he denied having received the applications. These families do not have any other cards like job cards either. Appeal to join the anti displacement struggles of adivasis
Resan Budia from Koel Karo Jan sangathan Jharkhand says the first five year plan in 1955 included projects like Damodar Valley corporation, Bokaro, HAC and Koel Karo which meant that many adivasi families would be displaced for development. Ambulence does not turn up, pregnant woman suffers
Anil Bamne from Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh says the Sanjeevni ambulance did not turn up again. Last time when Anil left a similar complaint on Swara, health secretary had intervened. But again, a pregnant woman had to be taken to the hospital by private vehicle, after suffering labour pain for hours.
