Tribals take oath to fight company takeover of Niyamgiri hills
Giridhari Patra is telling us about a meeting on the Niyamgiri hills last month where tribals worshipped Niyam Raja the God. He says they also sacrificed two goats and two chicken and everyone took oath with the blood of sacrified animals that what may come they will not leave the hill and will fight any company take over of the hill till their last bredth. Forest dept uses NREGA money but does not follow rules
Dhiran from Kota block of Bilaspur says forest department is using money from NREGA for road construction but are not following the NREGA norms and wages payment are delayed. He gives example of one road construction work in forest area from 2009-10 where more than 60 workers are yet to get paid fully and in another work 40 workers have not been paid from 4 months. Lost eye working in NREGA but no compensation after 2 years
Sanjay Sharma from Ambikapur in Surguja district in Chhatttisgarh is telling about a case of laborer Mr Mahilaram of village Kakna in Rajpur block of the district who lost one of his eyes while working in NREGA on 19th July 2008. NREGA : Govt conducts enquiry 3 days after report on Swara
Prakash Gupta from Ambikapur says 3 days back on 5th March I had reported about less and non payment in NREGA work in Batauli block of Surguja district. Today an officer from the district came to the panchayat to investigate and spoke to concerned laborers who told the officer that they have got wages at the rate of Rs 70 instead of Rs 100. Farmers bring out anti price rise rally in Bhopalpatnam
