Police chases away people protesting Vedanta rail line
On the 23rd people got together in Lanjigarh in Odisha to oppose the Vedanta railway line. A police force lathicharged the demonstrators , broke down their tents, and chased them for about 5 kilometres. Giridhari Patro questions the role of the police in the matter of a peaceful opposition to a life affecting change by a private corporation. People do not want the railway line. Earlier the group opposing Vedanta was small, they were an unknown entity. But the continued police support for the company and the brutal response to the participants in movement has raised awareness, and brought them together. Liquor shops are illegally situated, dept takes no actions
Giridhari Patra from Bhavanipatna in Odisa says in his town every lane is filled with number of liquor shops who do not obey rules. The law says liquor shops should not be within half a kilometer of school, temple or main road but that is not the case. Demand for regular Govt health facilities in Niyamgiri hills
Giridhari Patra Ji says in Niyamgiri hills in Odissa there are no health facilities and it is hard to find any tribal who is above the age of 45. Because there are no roads on the hill so no govt doctor wants to go up there. He says few days back when he went to the hill he found 2 TB patients and brought them down. But the collector says the patients do not have any BPL cards so they can not be helped. He demands regular health services for the tribals in Niyamgiri hills. Tribals demand better land rate but company not keen to listen

Tribals take oath to fight company takeover of Niyamgiri hills
Giridhari Patra is telling us about a meeting on the Niyamgiri hills last month where tribals worshipped Niyam Raja the God. He says they also sacrificed two goats and two chicken and everyone took oath with the blood of sacrified animals that what may come they will not leave the hill and will fight any company take over of the hill till their last bredth.
