90% poor people are left out in new BPL survey in my village
Aparna Marandi from Giridih district of Jharkhand is demanding that Below Poverty Line survey be done again as more than 90% people are left in the new survey and the poorest of the poor are now not part of BPL. She says in her village where there is no school and no other government facility only 4 out of 117 families have been listed in the new list and rest of the families are not getting benefit of govt schemes meant for BPL families like Indira Awas and Old age pension. In this Jharkhand village 90% poor are left out in new BPL list
Aparna Marandi is today visiting a village alled Tilda in Giridih district of Jharkhand. She speaks to the headman of the village who tells her that many poor people have been left out in the new Below Poverty Line( BPL) survey. There is no drinking water and people are dying after drinking dirty water. They can not get treatment because they do not have money and there are no roads. There is no water for irrigation as well as the ponds have dried and there is no electricity. If govt can look at these issues it willl help these poor people. Request to reconsider cases against jailed cultural activists
Aparna Marandi, wife of jailed cultural activist Jeetan Marandi is appealing to Govt to reconsider the case of her husband and similar people who are languishing in jail on “false” charges. She says Jeetan never took part in any violent activity and was falsely charged in Chilkhari Maoist attack and a session court gave him death sentence which Jharkhand High court has rejected and acquitted him in all the cases but police has charged him with more false cases.
