दंतेवाड़ा विधायक भीमा मंडावी के गृहग्राम में उनके 48 वर्षीय चाचा लखमा मंडावी ने शनिवार की दोपहर करीब तीन बजे फांसी लगाकर आत्महत्या कर ली। घटना जिला मुख्यालय से करीब १९ किमी दूर ग्राम पंचायत गदापाल के पटेलपारा की है। एएसपी राजेश कुकरेजा ने घटना की पुष्टि करते हुए माओवादियों द्वारा इस तरह की किसी भी वारदात को अंजाम देने से साफ इंकार किया। पुलिस ने लखमा की पत्नी 48 वर्षीय भीमे और 14 वर्षीय पुत्र दुला के हवाले से बताया कि शनिवार की दोपहर घर के पास के आम पेड़ पर उनके पिता लखमा ने अपनी लुंगी से फांसी लगाकर अपनी इहलीला समाप्त कर ली। सुबह मौके पर पहुंचकर पुलिस अधिकारियों ने परिजनों के बयान लिया जिसके बाद यह साफ हो गया कि मामला नक्सली वारदात का नहीं बल्कि आत्महत्या है।

उडीसा के मल्कानगिरी जिले के कुड़मुलगुम्मा ब्लाक के पेपरमेटला और आसपास के गांवों के हजारों लोगों ने शनिवार को जंगल में नक्सलियों के पास जाकर कलेक्टर आर विनिल कृष्णा और जूनियर इंजिनियरपवित्र मोहन माझी को छोड़ने की अपील कि। इसके बाद भी नक्सलि विभिन्न जेलों में बंद अपने साथियों को रिहाई कि मांग पर अडे़ हुए हैं। दूसरी ओर नक्सलियों से मध्यस्थता के लिए सामाजिक व मानवअधिकार कार्यकर्ता उडींसा की राजधानी भुवनेश्वर पहुँच गये हैं। वंही बस्तर संभाग में नक्सली नेता किशनजी की मौजुदगी ने पुलिस की चिंता बढ़ा दी है। सुत्रों के मुताबिक करीव संप्ताह भर से अगवा मलकानगिरी कलेक्टर श्री कृष्णा और कनिष्ठ अभियंता श्री मांझी को नक्सलियों दा्रा छत्तिसगढ़ के बस्तर संभाग में घुमाए जाने की सुचना खुफिया विभाग ने पुलिस को दी है।सूत्रों का कहना हैं कि अपहत दोनों अफसरों को नक्सलियों ने एक दिन उड़ीसा मे रखा था। इसके बाद दंन्तेवाड़ा के जगरगुंडा के जंगलों में लाए। वहाँ से उन्हे बस्तर के चिंतागुफा में ले जाने के बाद लुचापाड़ा के जंगल में रखा है।

Bindeshwari Painkra from Surguja district in Chhattisgarh says they did a one month long foot march in Sitapur block to check how government shemes like NREGA, PDS, Mid day meal etc are working. He says they found in many villages headmen are filling fake muster roles in NREGA. People have not been paid for their work in NREGA for more than a year. So people are migrating and they do not want to work in NREGA any more. People have paid Rs 10,000 to get wells dug under NREGA and old age pension etc are also delayed for months. He says they told people that according to law the payment should be made in NREGA in 15 days and gave a report to administration two months back but have not heard back from them yet. Santosh from Ambikapur in Chhattisgarh says on 25th January 5 policemen and one villager was abducted by Maoists in Narayanpur district and till date there is no news about them. He says he has heard that some families have no earning member apart from the abducted policemen. Maoists should release the policemen in the name of humanity. This will send a good signal to society.
