Subash Gayali from Jharkhand tells us that Pollution control department has arranged a public hearing in Nuamundi in West Singhbhum district for clearance of extension of a Tata Iron ore mines. People are protesting because the iron ore mines have increased pollution in the area and have not fulfilled their past promises. Subash Gayali from Jharkhand says administration arrnaged a Public hearing on 15th Feb in Hazaribagh town hall for a coal mine 40 kms away from the location, which is illegal. In the hearing company had given special clothes to their supporters for identification and rest were beaten up by police including many women. 2 were arrested and false statement has been taken from them. Subhash Gayali from Jharkhand is telling us about a regional meet about mining and land in Dhanad district. The main issue was the practices of BCCL which had the rights to mine upto 2005, however they continued and in 2006, 50 mine labourers lost their lives. Where the mining is finished also, the land has not been leveled for farming, nor is their any return of the land to the people, who want the authorities to take note and solve the long pending issues.
