We gave land and forest and got pollution and water crisis
Mohd Ainul Ansari from Dhanbad is telling us the story of his district which is known as the Coal capital of the country. He says people of his district had land, forest and water but they gave it in the name of development of the nation. In return they have got pollution and water crisis. To solve water crisis of 22 villages a water scheme was inaugurated by CM in 2003. More than 4 crores have been spend on the project but the villagers are still waiting for water after 8 years thought the CM had promised it will be completed in a year. Villagers destroying forest near my village, No one cares...
Raju Kumar from Nawada village in Semaria block of Chatra district of Jharkhand says his village is in the middle of a forest. There are around 15 villages in the area which does not have any roads or electricity. He says the local villagers are destroying the forest with their daily use and administration does not care. Forest Right: Adivasis applied for land in 2009, No reply yet
Jagdish Ji in Rewa Madhya Pradesh is visiting a forest village called Gadhoi where 900 Kol adivasis are living from 1973. These 73 families have applied for land deeds under forest rigths act in 2009 but there is no movement yet on their application. The people have also met collector but he has also not given assurance. Some people from this village had also been to jail for land issues in the past. Adivasis living on forest land from 1975 have not got deeds!
Jagdish Ji from Rewa in Madhya Pradesh is visiting a forest village called Darbhai. He says 300 adivasis live in this village from 1975. These 75 adivasi families filled their claim form under Forest Rights Act in 2008 but have not got their deeds. MP govt had given date till yesterday for filling fresh claim forms but these people were not aware of this new date. Jharkhand villagers to save forest for future generation
Raju Kumar from Semaria block of Chatra district of Jharkhand says villagers from his village have decided that they need to preserve the forest around them and they should not cut it as firewood. They have also decided to campaing about it in the nearby villages. Under that plan today around 30 people went to nearby village and the villagers there as well have liked their idea and have decided to not cut the forest.
