School on forest land, so children forced to study under tree
Khuturam Sunani is talking to a villager in Bolangir district of Odisha who says the school in his village was inaugurated by MLA in 2006 but because it is on forest land so the forest department is not allowing a school building to be built and children are forced to study under a tree. Allegation of selling Govt land with official connivance...
Hyder Ansari from Bokaro is telling us that some influential people have occupied 182 acre of Govt land with connivance of Govt officials and are selling it to people to make houses there. Land rates are Rs 1 lakh per acre, Govt giving Rs 12,000!
Tapan Das from Nuapada district of Odisha is telling us about a dam which is coming up in the area. He says Govt is giving compensation of Rs 12-13,000 per acre thought the market rate is more than Rs 1 lakh in the area. Houses built on patta land broken, no action from police!
Mahammad Ashlam from Kalahandi tells us that at the border of Kalahandi and Rayagada districts in Odisha 56 families had got land deeds under Forest Right act. They also built houses on the land. On 8th October some people broke their houses and also burnt them. Police have not taken any action. District collector says he does not know about the incident! A village with 10 handpumps and 20 liquor shops!
Khuturam Sunani is telling us today about a village in Bolangir district in Odisha. He says Bolangir is known for drought and distress migration but this vlllage is known for its drinking. The village has 10 handpumps but 20 liquor shops. Additionally it has an english liquor shop. The situation is so bad that many have deposited their BPL cards to continue drinking.
