Khuturam Sunani is talking to a villager in Bolangir district of Odisha who says the school in his village was inaugurated by MLA in 2006 but because it is on forest land so the forest department is not allowing a school building to be built and children are forced to study under a tree. Mahammad Ashlam from Kalahandi tells us that at the border of Kalahandi and Rayagada districts in Odisha 56 families had got land deeds under Forest Right act. They also built houses on the land. On 8th October some people broke their houses and also burnt them. Police have not taken any action. District collector says he does not know about the incident! The village has 10 handpumps but 20 liquor shops. Additionally it has an english liquor shop. The situation is so bad that many have deposited their BPL cards to continue drinking.
