Adivasis living on forest land from 1975 have not got deeds!
Jagdish Ji from Rewa in Madhya Pradesh is visiting a forest village called Darbhai. He says 300 adivasis live in this village from 1975. These 75 adivasi families filled their claim form under Forest Rights Act in 2008 but have not got their deeds. MP govt had given date till yesterday for filling fresh claim forms but these people were not aware of this new date. Arrested adivasis demanding better land rates released
Savita Rath from Raigarh in Chhattisgarh is telling us that she had told us yesterday about arrest of 23 adivasi farmers who were demanding government approved rates for the land a power company has taken from them. She says today there was a 3 party meeting where more than 200 villagers from nearby villages took part and a decision was taken to release the arrested farmers till 15th June. Saharia adivasis working as bonded labor on land they own!
Bhan Sahu traveling with Jan Satyagraha Samvad Yatra of Ekta Parishad has reached Ashoknagar district in Madhya Pradesh where adivasis have come from far off places to attend the meeting. She speaks to one Ekta Parishad activist working in the area who tells her that many Saharia adivasis have also got land deeds but influential people do not allow them to farm in those lands rather many adivasis are working as bonded laboers in the same land which they own. 23 adivasis arrested for demanding better rate for land
Savita Rath from Raigarh in Chhattisgarh is telling us about arrest of 23 people from Gharghoda in the same district where people were demanding better rates for their land to be taken away for a power plant. When people tried to block the road police have taken away the leaders. People from this adivasi area are sitting on a strike in front of the company gate demanding their release. Request to reconsider cases against jailed cultural activists
Aparna Marandi, wife of jailed cultural activist Jeetan Marandi is appealing to Govt to reconsider the case of her husband and similar people who are languishing in jail on “false” charges. She says Jeetan never took part in any violent activity and was falsely charged in Chilkhari Maoist attack and a session court gave him death sentence which Jharkhand High court has rejected and acquitted him in all the cases but police has charged him with more false cases.
