We got forest under Bhudan, Forest dept is snatching it from us!
Dr Haneef in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh is visiting Nagopally village where more than 500 adivasis live. They tell him that they got 600 acre of forest during Bhudan movement but from last 3 years forest department is attacking them and trying to plant some trees there. They want to show the forest department proof of their old association with the forest where they have their ponds and gods but they are not interested. Collector Khammam should help these adivasis. With monsoon teak smugglers active in Bastar, forest dept not bothered
Imran Khan from Bhopalpatnam in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh is telling that with farmers, wood smugglers also wait eagerly for monsoon here. With monsoon the smugglers have started putting very expensive teak woods on the river side. They are waiting for water flow in river Indravati. The members of Forest security committee are earning and forest department is not concerned. Once there is enough water in Indravati these logs would go to Andhra and Maharashtra markets. After forest dept burnt our houses can't find our women, children
My name is Madvi Nanda,We came from Sukma district,Koya Nendra Village in Chhattisarh.Now we are living in Bathula Village near Sathupally,Mandal,Khammam District. We cleared the forest and constructed Huts.All the women and children ran into the forest,when Forest people burned our houses on 1st July 2012.
They have abducted six of us and put us in forest office and beaten severely all the night and again they have beaten us in the morning also,finally they brought us to Palvoncha Town on 3rd July 2012 and left us.We are in a confused state of mind and we don’t know where our women and children are. We are hungry and fear,searching for our women and children in and around Bhadrachalam Forests.We don’t know when we will join our families. Please help us. FRA application pending, forest dept breaks houses of adivasis!
Ramvilas Gond from Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh is telling us that in the middle of rains today forest department has broken the hosues of adivasis. He says it is an illegal act as the application of these adivasis under Forest Rights act are still pending and no one can break houses when a matter is under consideration. The people today are busy looking for some shade for their children in rain and will sit on dharna from tomorrow to challenge this act and take back their rights on their land,water and forest. Forest officer threatening to throw away from our land, please help
Hem Singh Markam is an adivasi from Sujankhar village in Pandaria block of Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh. He says I had reported few days back that a forest ranger is threatening us to throw us out of our village but I got no response. The ranger wants to do plantation on our land.
