Odisha: 500 acre land under flooded water but Govt is not helping

Khuturam Sunani in Nuapada district of Odisha is talking to a farmer who tells him that his 32 acre of land has been submerged under Udanti river which flows from Chhattisarh to the area. The farmer says more than 500 acre of land in around 60-70 villages have gone under water but government has not done anything to help the farmers. Govt clueless, villagers remove maoist blockade at their own risk

Ajit Panda from Khariar in Nuapada district of Odisha says some days back there was a report on Swara that Maoists have blocked a connecting road in Bodem block during their bandh and have asked police to remove the blockade. I spoke to police officials about it but they did not respond. Villagers were suffering because due to road block PDs and health vehicle etc were not able to reach the villages. Adivasis dont trust they will get job in industry after giving land

Munni Hansda, an adivasi leader from Santhal Pargana region of Jharkhand is leading an agitation against proposed coal mine, dam and a power project in Dumka district. Odisha: CRPF harrassing adivasi villagers in the name of Maoists

Ajeet Panda from Nuapada district of Odisha says the lives of people in adivasi areas of district have become very difficult due to harassment of police and Central Reserve police force ( CRPF). He says it has become a daily affair that the force will come to villages and ask about Maoists and will unnecessarily beat up people.
