Bhan Sahu is visiting a group of 230 adivasis in Uttar Pradesh who for a change do not have any problem from forest department officials. She tells us that whichever state I go to adivasis are getting evicted from forest and they are not able to do farming on the land they should get land deeds for. But here she meets an adivasi who tells her that they got organised under National forestdweller and forest workers organisation and thanks to their unity no official ever harasses them and they have also filled the forms to get deeds for the land they are cultivating. Bhan Sahu is visiting Manikpur in Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh where adivasis and dalits took out a rally to demand proper implementation of Forest Rights Act. She speaks to a dalit who tells her that though the act was passed in 2006 but it still remains to be implemented in these adivasi areas of UP. Adivasis from bordering Rewa distrct of Madhya Pradesh also took part in the rally and said they are facing similar issues and forest department is also harassing them there though they are using the same forest lands from generations. Natthulal Ji from Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh is telling us various stories about adivasis being harassed by forest department and local higher class people from his area. He tells us about some cases where people have got land deeds under forest rigths act but forest department is throwing them out. In some places survey has been completed, in some places people are using forest land from 1995 but upper caste locals and forest department is using force and not allowing them to farm. Dr Haneef of Sitara organisation in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh is visiting Nagopalli village in Satyapalli mandal. 3 weeks back he had reported that forest department has burnt the huts of Internally displaced people ( IDPs) from Chhattisgarh who have come to Andhra to escape the ongoing conflict there. Today the adivasis tell him that after they were released by the forest department and some how got united with their women and children who had ran away in the forest and made their huts again, the forest department has broken their huts twice more but still they can not go back to their home in Chhattisgarh. A member of Ekta Parishad is calling from Maldhan block in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh to tell us that forest department is harassing a lot of adivasi people there. He says at least in 5 villages forest department people have burnt and broken the houses of the adivasis though they are living there from more than 20 years. They are also beating up the people and destroying their crops. They have also complained to the collector and people have applied everwhere for land deeds but no one listens.
