Bhan Sahu today travels to Mogra village 9 kms from Ambagarh Chowki in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh. She talks to a villager who tells her that a dam was built in the village in year 2005. Many farmers lost their land but they are yet to get their compensation. He says we went to officials many times. Last year we sat on a dharna and the officials promised we will get compensation by January. Recently we again went to the collector who sent us back giving more assurances. Bhanvarlal Meena from Udaipur district of Rajasthan says adivasi girls in the area are not getting higher education because they need to travel outside for the same, which is inconvenient. But village headman and some women got together and have forced those families to not make liquor. They say now children have also started drinking in the village and those families should find other occupation rather than selling liquor.
