Rajasthan: Influential people burn shops, beat up dalit but no police action!
My name is Chhataram. I am speaking from village Ratei village in Barmer district of Rajasthan. Today I want to tell you the story of my friend Hemaram. On 19th July his shop was burnt by some influnetial lower caste people. Half a dozen more shops were also burnt. A police case was filed next day. On 25th when Hemaram went to fill water the same people broke his vessel and beat him up with abusive languages abou his dalit caste. Someone taking subsidized food on my card from 5 years, complaint dont work
My name is Ratiram father’s name Bhukhau caste Gond. My village is Neur in Pandaria block of Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh. Fraudulently someone is taking subsidized ration in my name from last five years by signing the register in English. I complained about it in May but no action has been taken on it yet. Similarly we have also complained about ration cards of Dhan Singh son of Prabhu and Baisakhin Bai widow of Firga. Someone is using their cards. Preparation for World Adivasi Day in full swing
Ishwar Korram from Kondagaon in Chhattisgarh is tellings us about ongoing preparation for World Adivasi Day to be celebrated on 9th August in all over the state. Dalit beaten up for trying to get a hair cut, No police action!
Bhikharam Boudh from Shergarh in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan is telling us that in a village nearby called Saba dalits are not allowed to have their hair cut in village barber shops. He says a dalit went for his hair cut on 19th June and was beaten by 4 men of upper caste. A FIR was filed the next day but police has not taken any action. Govt act for welfare of handicapped people must be implemented
Hariram Korram from Chhattisgarh Viklang Manch ( Handicaped association) is saying that handicapped people are facing various kinds of problem because of insensitivity of state govt officials. Panchayats do not have provisions to help handicapped people and the central law of 1995 is not known to handicapped people in remote areas and the state govt does not implement these laws.
