NMDC took land for steel plant, Had promised job, farmers on hunger strike

Ashish Yadav is talking to some affected farmers from Nagarnar village in Bastar district in Chhattisgarh who lost their land to National Mineral development corp 4 years ago who wants to build a steel plant there . NMDC had promised that one from each affected family will get a permanent job withing 2 years but 1052 families are still waiting. They have started hunger strike and are looking for our help. National Mineral Development Co not treating non-permanent workers well

Ashish Yadav Secretary Bailadila Mine workers union in Dantewada Chhattisgarh says National Mineral Development corporation is cheating its non-permanent workers. They are around 500 of them and are mostly local adivasis. They get no details of their Provident Fund. Some get work for few weeks and then get retrenched. Supreme Court, Govt orders farmers to pay back loan, Most in bad shape...

Ashish Sagar Dixit from Banda in Uttar Pradesh is telling us that earlier High Court had put a ban on loan recovery from farmers citing bad situation of agriculture. But recently Supreme Court has vacated that stay and in a public hearing yesterday district collector behaved very badly and asked farmers to pay back. Delay in framing rights of Panchayats stopping development

Devashish Mishra from Baghmara block of Dhanbad district in Jharkhand says though Panchayat elections took place in the state after a gap of 32 years but it is more than one and half years but government has not made the laws for rights of panchayats and the development work is stand still.
