Panchayat expels primitive tribals from village, No action after complaint!
Bhan Sahu is talking to Agadha Thakur from Chhattisgarh Adivasi Vikas Parishad who tells her that in Gariaband district 40 kms from Dhurwagudi there is a village called Sagada where people from primitive Bhunjia Kamar tribe lives. Yadav caste dominated panchayat of that village has expelled 45 adivasis of 6 families from the village and they are forced to live on their farmland 5 kms from the village after digging a well and making temporary houses. We are united so forest dept dont dare to harass us here, says adivasis
Bhan Sahu is visiting a group of 230 adivasis in Uttar Pradesh who for a change do not have any problem from forest department officials. She tells us that whichever state I go to adivasis are getting evicted from forest and they are not able to do farming on the land they should get land deeds for. But here she meets an adivasi who tells her that they got organised under National forestdweller and forest workers organisation and thanks to their unity no official ever harasses them and they have also filled the forms to get deeds for the land they are cultivating.
