Forest Rights: No police action against illegal act of forest offcials, pls help...
My name is Jang Sai Koya. I am calling from Rajpur block in Chhattisgarh. We are very pained with the attitude of forest officials towards adivasis. Though Forest Act says if an adivasi has applied for forest land no action should be taken till the application is decided. But forest officials misbehaved with Mr ramchander who is living on forest land from 1991. A case has been registered but no action has been taken against the officials. You are requested to help. Panchayat laws do not apply to us, says officials of Coal India!
Jang Sai Koya from Bharat Jan Andolan in Surguja in Chhattisgarh says South Eastern Coalfield Ltd has started work on a coal mine called Mahan-2 without any Gram Sabha clearance. When we went to ask about it they filed a case of Rs 37 lakhs against us saying we have harmed the work of the mines. Now in the case when we asked for a copy of Gram Sabha resolution they have said that Panchayat acts do not apply on them! These officers of Coal India should be penalised.
