Government wants to take away the land to construct Indian Institute of Management there. She says the rain has come and people have a cheap tarpauline and sleeping under it also during the night in wet floor. She says in summer they sat here also during the day and one woman protestor died. Gend Lal Sayyam is telling us about their problems around Revenue land and not forest Land. The villagers have applied for lands many time but no one is paying attention. They are being sent from pillar to post.The MNREGA scheme is not being run well. The payment was made not in 15 days as prescribed, sometimes for 4 months. First we were told that the rate would be 120 rupees per day, but the payment was made at the rate of 65 rupees per day. With the result, no one wants to do Panchayat work. Tejlal is speaking from Surguja district in Chhattisgarh and says in 2009 we 220 laborers worked in 4 kilometer long road construction under NREGA. The due is Rs 3,20,000 but when we go to officials they send us to post office which says no money has arrived. Some officials say the money has not come. An angry Mr Tejlal from Lakhanpur block in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh is narrating the problems of his village. He says 220 laborers worked in NREGA in 2009 and their payment of Rs 3 lakh is yet to be made. Electric poles were laid 20 years ago but no electricity has come. They have not got any ration card, no job card for NREGA. Village has no handpump and no roads. Old age pension have not been paid from 3 months. Shankar Lal ji from Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh is telling us corruption by local health workers who are charging Rs 200-300 from poor adivasi pregnant women to make their cards. Adivasi women have not complained anywhere but when Shankar Lal ji asked the health workers they told him that they need to pass on money to their higher officials so they are helpless.
