Hem Singh Markam an adivasi from Kabirdham district says a forest ranger came to our village and told us that if we went with him to forest to do some work he will give us deeds for land. 30 of us went with him but he now refuses to fulfil his promise. Jainendra Singh Porte from village Ghatberra in Udaypur block of Surguja district of Chhattisgarh says that we have stopped forest cutting work in the forest near our village which was going on without permission of Gram Sabha. They have cut more than 2000 trees in the forest. The people of the village have decided that they will not allow any taking over of land without the permission of the Gram Sabha.
