We gave land and forest and got pollution and water crisis
Mohd Ainul Ansari from Dhanbad is telling us the story of his district which is known as the Coal capital of the country. He says people of his district had land, forest and water but they gave it in the name of development of the nation. In return they have got pollution and water crisis. To solve water crisis of 22 villages a water scheme was inaugurated by CM in 2003. More than 4 crores have been spend on the project but the villagers are still waiting for water after 8 years thought the CM had promised it will be completed in a year. Villagers in MP forced to drink dirty water, falling ill...
Saroj Paraste in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh today is visiting a village called Khirpani where people are suffering because of lack of water.The village has 150 houses and population of 700. They get one tanker a day that is not enough and they are used to use dirty water which is making many sick. The health facilities are at 17 kms away at block headquarter. All water sources in my village have dried up thanks to mining
Janardan Mahto from Ketulia village in Dhanbad district of Jharkhand says thanks to a coal mine in his village all the drinking water sources in the village have dried up. People need to walk 2/3 kms to fetch drinking water. River Damodam flows next to the village but access to the river has been closed by the mining company. No NREGA payment from 2009, no water, no ration card...
An angry Mr Tejlal from Lakhanpur block in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh is narrating the problems of his village. He says 220 laborers worked in NREGA in 2009 and their payment of Rs 3 lakh is yet to be made. Electric poles were laid 20 years ago but no electricity has come. They have not got any ration card, no job card for NREGA. Village has no handpump and no roads. Old age pension have not been paid from 3 months. Handpump in adivasi areas not working for many months
Brijesh Kumar from Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh says handpump in the dalit-adivasi part of their village is not working from last 4 months. They have given written complaint to officials quite a few times but there is no action. There is a handpump near a upper class landed person who does not allow dalits and adivasis to take water from there and the poor people are forced to fetch water from far.
