Savita Rath from Raigarh is reporting that many people’s organisations have come together to organise a rally in Raigarh on 1st June to protest the arrest of social activists Ramesh Agrawal and Harihar Patel. Both the social activists were arrested on 28th May on a complaint of misbehavior in a public hearing in May 2010 by an employee of Jindal steel. Bhagirath Verma from Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha says they oppose the arrest of social activists in Raigarh and demand their immediate unconditional release. If they are not released then CMM will be forced to start agitation in all over the state and the state govt will be responsible for it. He also demands that state should help implement the High court order of regularisation of workers in Holcim ACC cement where workers are sitting on strike demanding the same from last March.

Savita Rath is reporting from a hunger strike place where farmers are protesting low rates for their land being taken for a dam on Kelo river in Raigarh. She says the market rate of land in area is around 12 lakhs and govt is giving Rs 50,000 to farmers. The farmers have complained to authorities. They have sat on relay hunger strike from last week but non authority has bothered to listen to them. Now they are planning to close the work of the dam from 2nd May. Savita Rath from Raigarh says she had called Swara on 15th March to inform that children of Anganvadi in her village did not have proper food as supplies were stopped from govt. She says the next day after the story went out, officials visited the village and arranged cooked food for the children. The officer has also assured in writing that the supplies that were due from few months now shall be delivered by 1st April. She thanks everyone who made the effort to activate the administration.
