Supreme Court grants bail to activist Ramesh Agrawal
Savita Rath from Raigarh is telling us about Supreme Court granting bail to social activist Ramesh Agrawal. As you know Ramesh Agrawal was arrested on 28th May on a defamation case by an employee of Jindal steel during environmental hearing of a proposed power plant. Lower courts had earlier rejected bail application of Mr Agrawal. Another activist arrested in the same case Dr Harihar Patel was granted bail by local court. She thanks all for help. Bad situation in sports due to bad condition of playgrounds
Dilip from Raipur says it is more than 10 years since the formation of Chhattisgarh state but the situation of sports in the state is pathetic. He says in capital Raipur all the playgrounds are in bad shape and they are getting destroyed for more and more commercial usage. Happy to sacrifice our lives to save land : Dr Harihar Patel
Savita Rath is talking to us live from a meeting in Raigarh in Chhattisgarh where people have gathered to protest arrest of social activists. She helps us listen to Dr Harihar Patel who has just come out of jail after getting arrested on a defamatory case by a Jindal employee during a public hearing. No quality control in mushrooming engineering colleges
Dilip from Raipur is interviewing a student of Govt Engineering college who says there is no practical work happening in his college. There is paucity of labs, instruments and teachers and the student does not feel confident that after passing out he will be able to do any work. Dilip says this is the situation of a Govt college and Govt is allowing many private colleges where there is no control on quality. Evicted Raipur Jhuggi residents request for help...
Two residents from Mahatma Gandhi nagar a jhuggi in Raipur says their houses were broken 3 times in the past but finally they were brutally evicted on 10th June by authorities. Since then they are living in a nearby crematorium but authorities are using a Congress leader to throw them out from there too. They request for help and say they plan to intensify their agitration.
