Lower Suktel dam in Odisha: Arrest and beating of protesters and Journalists
Rabi Shankar from Odisha is telling us about arrest and beatings of protesters today of Lower Suktel dam in Bolangir district. Many were injured including a filmmaker Amitabh Patra who has been hopitalised. More than a dozen has been arrested. Poeple of 29 vllages who will be affected are protesting from last 21 days but administration is going ahead with dam construction with help of brute force. Rabishankar Pradhan is calling from Bolangir district in Odisha where more than 1000 adivasis are protesting against proposed Lower Sukhtel dam. 12 platoon of police have arrived. One woman became senseless after being hurt by police beatings. Adivasi Mahasabha demands governance of scheduled areas by Center...
Radhakrishna Singh Munda from Jharkhand Adivasi Mahasabha is telling us that annual meeting of the Mahasabha has decided to demand that Center should take over the administration of scheduled areas in the state. The demands also include prohibition like in Gujarat and AP. The demand that according to Forest Rights Act and PESA Gram Sabha should be given all rights to manage local resources. Land for IIM Ranchi: Scores of villagers injured in police lathi charge
Arun Pradhan from Nagri village in Ranchi is telling us that today when villagers broke the boundary wall of proposed IIM more than 25 villagers got injured in police lathi charge. One is seriously injured and 4 have been arrested. He says govt is flouting CNT act, PESA act and laws of 5th schedule in not consulting the adivasis before acquiring their land.
