Report from national workshop on malnutrition in children
Chandrakant reports from the 2nd national conference on Malnutrition being held in Bhopal where experts on the subject have got together. The Prime Minister’s paper was read, and a workshop was conducted on Malnutrition being a matter of national shame. The issue of accountability of the administration with regards to implementation of the Supreme court directive on child rights was also discussed. Health authorities should be punished in rural areas too
Chandrakant from Pandaria in Kabirdham district in Chhattisgarh says FIRs have been filed against authorities who were responsible for 90 deaths in Kolkata hospital but no health authorities have ever been punished in Pandaria where number of deaths have taken place for irresponsible behavior of local health officials. Govt doctors do not attend, child dies in mother's womb
Chandrakant from Kawardha district of Chhattisgarh is telling story of a pregnant woman from a village. When she reached the Govt hospital in nearby town there was no doctor in the hospital. No doctor or health official picked up the phone. Ambulance demanded a bank challn in the middle of the night. When she reached another nearby bigger town her child had already died in the womb.
