Domestic violence should be a community issue

Rajim from Chhattisgarh is interviewing Sushila ji from Shama organisation who works on the issue of woemn’s health and rights. Sushila ji tells her that through their trainings they want to make domestic violence a community issue. She says one third women are affected by domestic violence but Govt and society does not do much on it because it is treated as a family or personal issue. Dalit and Adivasis get together to solve their problems

Rajim from Pithora block of Chhattisgarh which is adjacent to Orissa is telling us about how people there have got together as Dalit Adivasi sangathan and helping themselves. She says former MLA was drawing access water from common pond which people asked him not to do after a meeting. Itwari : Farmer festival on Sundays of no work in monsoon

Rajim ji from Pithora in Chhattisgarh is talking to an old man who is telling her about Itwari festival where farmers take a day off for 3/4 Sunday’s during monsoon and do not go to work. On this day they worship for the safety of the land and agriculture and also worship Indra the rain God. Got rights but still forest dept stops from tilling the land!

Rajim from Chhattisgarh is talking to an adivasi in Teka village who has got land rights for 3 acre of forest land under Forest Rights Act but the officials of forest department are threatening him and are not allowing him to till the land. Over 60% applications rejected under Forest Rights Act

Rajim today is sitting in a village called Teka where they are discussing the issue of Forest Rights Act. She discovers that more than 60% application in FRA has been rejected in these three villages. The head of Forest protection committee who is also sitting in the meeting says people are farming on the land and have also built their houses for which the application has been rejected.
