Mangal Kunjam says today thousands of adivasis from 53 affected villages by National Mineral Development corporation mines in Dantewada demonstrated in front of SDM office with 32 demands. They had protested last year and were given similar assurances. They are demanding jobs to locals, better compensation and no support to private companies like Tata and Essar. Mangal Kunjam is calling from Bedre in Bhairamgarh block in Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh where a higher secondary school is run by no teachers from last 7 years. The school has one headmaster and a lab technician. Last year 17 students appeared in class 10th exam and only one got through. He says Bedre is on road 25 kms from district headquarter. Mangal Kunjam is calling from Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh where Journalists have completed a foot march which started on 26th January from Abujhmaad area. He says this march was in protest of murder of two journalists by Naxals last year. Journalists are being pressurized by both sides. No Naxals came forward to meet the journalists during the march.
