Niyamgiri: 12th and last Gram Sabha also rejects Vedanta mining proposal
Rabi Pradhan from Odisha is returning from Niyamgiri hills where a flood like situation is developing after heavy rain. He says in Rayagada district in Jarpa village last Gram Sabha took place to decide on proposal of mining in Niyamgiri hills by Vedanta which villagers refused to accept. Niyamgiri:10th Gram Sabha also says no to Vedanta mining proposal...
Satya Mahar is telling that the 10th gram sabha of Niyamgiri is completed under the foot hill of Niyam Donger at Lakhpadar village of Raygada dist where out of 130 voters 97 tribal gave their openion against mining by Vedanta. People of three villages i.e.Rangamati, Bananibahal and Lakhpadar told that they only need salt and kerosene and Govt should spare their culture, religion and language. Govt not giving land records to protesters of coal mining, alleges villagers...
Raju is visiting Karnapura area in border of Hazaribagh, Chatra and Latehar districts in Jharkhand where 32 coal companies are planning to set up mining and more than 200 villages will loose land. People tell him that they are getting a rate of Rs 10,000 per katha ( a local unit) and local administration is adopting fraudulent methods to deprive people protesting against coal mines from land records. Elephants harassing us, We need elephant corridor and not coal mining...
Sajal Kumar from Raigarh Chhattisgarh is telling about elephants harassing and forest dept not helping. He says elephants started coming to villages from 2003 and people are demanding elephant corridor since then but Govt is more interested in opening coal mines. 27 elephants have died since and govt has paid more than Rs 4 crore in compensation. 9th Gram Sabha also says No to Vedanta mining proposal in Niyamgiri...
Satya Mahar from Odisha is telling about 9th Gramsabha of Niyamgiri held at Lamba village under Rayagada dist. In the midst of jungle 36 out of 46 voters voted against mining. They said Niyamgiri is their parent and as this hill is not made by Odisha Govt or Vedanta, they have no right to mine.Since long, they are worshiping the Niyam Raja and the river, trees, hill as their father.
