Mining: Locals should be given jobs as per agreement

239 acres of land was given to BCCL, in district Dhanbad, to establish a power plant by the landowners in the hope that they will get jobs after the power plant is set up. However the project failed. The land was given over to a private company OSD, which did not offer any employment to the locals. After more than two decades of patient waiting, no resolution has been made although an agreement was signed on 29/8/11 after protest by locals. They started protesting again on the 13th of this month, but Section 144 was clamped on the protesting people, and the issue is being drowned in legal procedures. Jharkhand Berojgar Morcha Secretary Rajkumar Napit requests the powers that be to intervene and provide relief. He can be contacted at 9661156574
