Tribals use Satyanashi for curing skin disorders

Satyanashi (Mexican Prickly Poppy) is also known Peeli Kateri or Peela Dhatura. The botanical name of this plant is Argemone maxicana. This spinous plant has many medicinal values. Tribals in India prepare juice of the roots and add Kali Mirch (Black Pepper) to it and supplement it to patients suffering from leprosy. Tribals in Patalkot use this plant for curing male sexual debility. For this they prepare a decoction of bark of this plant, latex of banyan tree and solid sugar. Later, they prepared small pills out of it and then it is given for 15 consecutive days. Tribals in Dang District of Gujarat, boil the seeds in water, the oil content comes at the superficial layer of water. The oil is then taken away using a cotton plug. The cotton is rolled over skin parts with problems such as eczema, wounds etc. Leaves of this plant are said to be effective in pain and arthritis.
