Satendra Oraon from Chatra district of Jharkhand is telling us that adivasis of his area took out a rally today and have stopped the work in the BCL coal mines. He says BCL is cheating the local people and taking away their land and today their main demand is release of their local leader Suresh who was arrested by police who was leading their agitation against the mines. They have not taken Gram Sabha permission. They have not done any environment assessment. They have not given any compensation to the people. Vinod Choudhary is talking to a laborer Suresh Saket from village Barhatola in Khamaria gram panchayat of Anuppur district in Madhya Pradesh. Suresh ji tells him that he and other laborers worked under NREGA for digging a well in June 2008 for 28 days but none of them have been paid. The work on the well is also incomplete.
