Beating public in Public hearing becoming common!

Subash Gayali is telling us that on 16th May Jharkhand Pollution control board organised a public hearing in Hazaribagh town hall for coal mines of a power plant. As per law the hearing should take place in open space near the affected villages. When people protested police beat them up. He says the same incident took place on 15th February earlier this year when police had beaten up people in the presence of SP and DC. Govt can't take adivasi land without conscent, says activist

Prakash Gupta is with Jan Chetna Yatra today which has reached Surajpur district in Chhattisgarh. He helps us listen to their leader Vijay Bhai who is telling the farmers that their ancestors fought and got a law which says even Govt can nt take an inch of their land if they do not want. The problem is that people do not know about it. He says if they land is given to the industrialists the state will not belong to the farmers any more. Passed resolution saying wont give land but work continues

A villager from Jharbarra village in Surguja in Chhattisgarh says that a fraudulent Gram Sabha resolution was passed in his village on 11th August 2009 saying villagers are ready to give land to a company. On 2nd October 2011 the villagers passed another Gram Sabha resolution against giving the land to company. A copy of the resolution was sent to collector and Governor but the company still continues the work. An inspection team visited the village two days back and villagers are very angry. More than 7 lakhs in wages due in NREGA from 5 months

Prakash Gupta is visiting village Kanaknagar in Pratappur block of Surajpur district in Chhattisgarh today. While talking to the Sarpanch he finds out that people worked under NREGA five months back in February 2012 but are yet to paid. The sarpanch tells him that more than Rs 7 lakh wages are due and the officials tell him that the funds have not arrived.
