Cutting of Khejri trees for cement plants must be stopped
Captain Deep Singh Shekhawat from Nawalgarh in Jhunjhunu district says Govt is trying to acquire 72,000 bigha land for 3 private cement factories from last 10 years. Farmers are sitting on a continuous dharna from 2 years saying they will not give their land. Companes have bought 4500 bigha land using brokers from villagers and have cut thousands of Khejri tree standing on those land. Villager protesting power plant: Will give life but not land
Bhan Sahu is in Sakreli village in Janjgir district in Chhattisgarh with Jan Chetna Yatra where people are sitting on protest from more than 2 months saying they will not give their land for upcoming power plant. Govt not encouraging Organic farmers, alleges activist
Virendra Chouhan from Khandawa in Madhya Pradesh says we are trying to work with farmers to promote organic farming but government does not seem very keen to help the farmers. He says 3 farmers in his village have created organic fertilizer and according to rules they should be encouraged with Rs 1000 each but after 2 months of applying and many follow ups there is no response.
