Migrant tribal worker duped, beaten, not paid for months...
Raja Madvi of Malkangiri in Orissa works as daily wager in Bhadrachalam in AP where he has migrated. He was appraoched by a Hyderabad agent Rajesh promising 5000 rupees per month for borewell digging. He took 3 tribals to work in Hyderabad with Sai Borewells owned by Rajendra Reddy. After 8 months Madvi got 3000 rupees and a promise for the rest after 15 days. When Madvi went back to Reddy, he was told that the money had been given to Rajesh, and beaten up when he demanded payment. Then he was taken by the owner to a police station where he was threatened. Madvi has now sought help from Sitara NGO after which he met the sub collector and filed a case. For more please contact 07842297786

Primitive Korwa Adivasi says, my mother died of hunger...
Bindeshwari Painkra is visiting Korwapara up in the hills in village Lotapani in Gram Panchayat Katkalo in Mainpat block of Surguja district of Chhattisgarh where he finds that a Korwa woman have died of starvation. He speaks to her son Hingaram who tells him that they had no food. Gonds should get education in Gondi as per constitution
On 12th March thousands of Gonds gathered in the Gondwana Ghotul Parisar , Chandrapur in Maharashtra to remember the 176th birthday of Shaheed Baburao Pilleshwar who laid down his life in the independence struggle in the year 1857. Tribals rally in Ranchi to save Chhota Nagpur Tenancy Act
Tribals, and representatives from various grassroots organisations came on to the roads in Ranchi, on the 12th of March with drums and bugles, to give the clarion call for the safety of the Chhota Nagpur Tenancy act the law which helps them save land instead of negotiating its sale in the assembly.
They like the existing law and want it to be protected.
