Bulldozing people's homes to make room for power plant...

Manbodhi Chauhan from Janjgir Champa district in Chhattisgarh says a power plant of Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board is coming up in his village. They got some monetary compensation but majority have got no suitable land as promised but state is now keen to shift them to a far off location. Police have broken some houses on 2nd June in a brazen attack. He says they should be first given land according to rehabilitation policy and there should be no demolition till the monsoons are over. Mining groups condemn arrest of activists in Chhattisgarh

Subhash Gayali from Ranchi says Jharkhand Mines Area co-ordination committee condemns the arrest of social activists Ramesh Agrawal and Harihar Patel in Chhattisgarh. The statement says Ramesh Agrawal had exposed unconstitutional work of Jinadals that is why he has been sent to jail. They demand an investigation of the arrest and immediate release of both the activists.

NREGA: No payment for 2 years, workers to go for direct action

Shivram Sonwanifrom Sitapur block of Chhattisgarh says that around 200 workers have decided to go for direct action from 29th June if there NREGA wages are not paid before. These workers are waiting for their payment from 2009-10. In a meeting today they have decided to lock the block office and start a hunder fast from that day. Gorakhpur: Mill owners agree to take back some of the workers

Jaypushp from Gorakhpur is reporting about a major victory of ongoing workers movement there when in a meeting in presence of collector the mill owners agreed to reinstate 12 of 18 suspended workers. The decision about rest of the workers will be taken after an enquiry. As you know a mill owner had fired at protesting workers on May 3rd and instead of arresting the offenders the administration had arrested the workers.
