Today Bhan Sahu visits some villages in Ambagarh Chowki block of Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh. She has found that people have worked on NREGA from February and have not got their wages. She says people need money as the monsoon is arriving and they need to buy seeds and also need to send children to school. Shankarlal Raikwar from Lalitpur district in Uttar Pradesh says NREGA was created to help the poor but in many cases that is not happening. He mentions a case where Sarpanch and secretary of a village has withdrawn the wages of 2 families and when they tried to complain they were threatenend that their houses will be burnt. Today 2 families have come to complain to collector but past experience of similar complaints tell us that administration has not done anything even when the complaints were found true.
