3 farmers on hunger strike hospitalized, no response from Govt
Rajesh Tripathi from Raigarh in Chhattisgarh says 3 farmers who were on hunger strike from last week were hospitalized today due to deteriorating health. The farmers are demanding better compensation for the land to be drowned by dam on Kelo river. He says more than 500 farmers are sitting in protest but Govt has not bothered to talk to them yet. Low land rates :Agitating farmers to stop dam work from 2nd May
Savita Rath is reporting from a hunger strike place where farmers are protesting low rates for their land being taken for a dam on Kelo river in Raigarh. She says the market rate of land in area is around 12 lakhs and govt is giving Rs 50,000 to farmers. The farmers have complained to authorities. They have sat on relay hunger strike from last week but non authority has bothered to listen to them. Now they are planning to close the work of the dam from 2nd May.
