Protest in Mumbai demands respect of labor law by multinational
kamayani Bali Mahabal is reporting about a solidarity protest which took place in Mumbai today. Holcim is a Swiss multinational company which is not obeying a High court order which talks about giving permanent jobs to some temporary workers there. The protest in Mumbai demanded implementation of High Court order and Indian labor laws. Village has military firing range but no drinking water...
Anil from Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh says in his village all the bore wells are not working and people are facing acute drinking water problem. People have told complained to authorities many times but they have not worked. He says our village has a military proof range where firing practice goes on for the whole day which causes big problem to the people but even that has not guaranteed water supply to villagers. Alleged illegal grabbing of adivasi land, complaints dont work
Suresh Oraon from Chhatra district of Jharkhand is reporting about land of adivasis being taken away by fraudulent way. He alleges that officials are involved with middlemen in this illegal land grabbing. They have complained to the district administration but there is no enquiry on the subject. Adivasi girls discontinue education for lack of hostels...
Bhanvarlal Meena from Udaipur district of Rajasthan says adivasi girls in the area are not getting higher education because they need to travel outside for the same, which is inconvenient. Residential hostel for adivasi girls will solve this problem and they have discussed it with local officials and people’s representatives, but that has not resulted in any positive outcome so far. May Day has become a ceremonial function only...
