This was 63rd death from 2001. 26 elephants have also died from 2004. This is the 7th death in area from 2005. Hundreds of elephants are roaming in the area and Govt is not making any arrangement to stop these deaths. Sajal Kumar is calling from Baysi colony in Dharmajaigarh block in Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh to say that last night one more farmer died due to elephant attack. This was 56th death in the area in 10 years. 23 elephants have also died. The elephant herd attacked the crop at midnight and the farmer had no option but to look on. But Govt has certified that there are no elephants so the land can be given to company for coal mine. Recently elephants have destroyed 3 houses. People have not got compensation from years. Sajal Kumar is calling from Dharmajaigarh in Raigarh district Chhattisgarh ito tell us that police has arrested Radheshyam Sharma who was sitting on fast until death demanding cancellation of public hearing for Fatehpur coal mine from 10th January. After arrest of Mr Sharma an 18 years old young boy Anmol Agrawal is continuing the fast. Local media is not giving adequate coverage. They also demand implementation of forest rights.
