Mahammad Ashlam from Kalahandi in Odisha is reporting about caste discrimination in Mid day meal of the Govt. He says it sounds unbelievable after 65 years of independence but in High School in Lagbahli village in Lanjigarh block of Kalahandi district mid day meal is served separately to students. The food gets first served to general class students, then comes the turn of adivasis and dalits are the last. Officials threaten RTI activist for exposing corruption, No police action

Mahammad Ashlam from Kalahandi district of Odisha is talking to Right to Information activist Dhoba Sahu who exposed corruption in Old age pension and other rural development schemes in his village. Administration followed up and found the allegation to be correct but no action has been taken up against the culprits. The officials have now beaten up Dhoba Sahu and have threatened him if he went to press about it. An FIR has been filed a week back but police has taken no action yet. Widow pension: Enquiry finds malpractice but no action!

In district Kalahandi of Orissa, the government officials are misappropriating widow pension funds. About 40 old age and widow pension cases for which money is being claimed are already dead.In one of the most backward Block Thamul Rampur corruption of lakhs of rupees has been acknowledged by the letter of the sub collector Bhavanipatna, vide reference number 1238/gp has instructed the BDO that a case be registered against the concerned official-however no action has been taken.

To make way for Vedanta, road connecting to village is dug

Mahammad Ashlam from Kalahandi says administration has dug up the only road connecting to village Bengopali for red mud pond of Vedanta refinery in Lanjigarh two days back. People protested and police has arrested 54 male from the village and have beaten up women. Villagers are sitting on strike in the police station. Houses built on patta land broken, no action from police!

Mahammad Ashlam from Kalahandi tells us that at the border of Kalahandi and Rayagada districts in Odisha 56 families had got land deeds under Forest Right act. They also built houses on the land. On 8th October some people broke their houses and also burnt them. Police have not taken any action. District collector says he does not know about the incident!
