Though the district is home to Bauxite and iron ore mines apart from many other non-mining based factories but the labor officers appointed for the district are operating from other districts. Kamal Shukla from Kanker district in Chhattisgarh says Mines department in the district is not giving information about mining in the area giving secracy clause. He says in last 4 years 35 RTI applications were made and in only 6 cases, information was given. In 2 cases the applicant had to go to appeal. Refused cases also include Central Govt’s Bhilai Steel Plant’s mining acitivity in Raoghat area about which the Information officer has said that these information can not be given. Kamal Shukla from Kanker in Chhattisgarh attended a rally of students and parents in Koelibeda where they told him about the bad situation of education facilities in the block. They told him that there are 4 high schools which does not have any teachers and teachers from primary and middle section are running the schools. Many schools do not have buildings.
