Chief Secretary checks state of Anganvadi after Swara report
Anil Bamne from Chhattisgarh says he had called on 29th Feb to report about the deficiencies in the anganvaadis of Achanakmar Tiger Reserve. The Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh, Sunil Kumar called Anil ji and enquired about the state of the anganvadis. Sunil ji ensured that there will be improvement in the coindition of the anganvadis. Request for help for adivasi IDPs whose houses were burnt
Dr Haneef from Sitara NGO in Andhra Pradesh says as you know on 27th March forest department has burnt houses of 40 Internally Displaced Adivasis in the reserve forest in Khammam district. These adivasis came to Andhra from Chhattisgarh to esacpe ongoing war in their home. We have started a rehabilitation center for these adivasis and need your support to run it. I am calling emergency ambulance number from last 2 days!
Mangal Kunjam from Dantewada in Chhattisgarh says the Government has started a much publicized project called Sanjeevani express where people in emergency health need can call a phone number 108 and the ambulance will reach them. We will continue ot fight to save Niyamgiri, says adivasis
Giridhari Patra is telling us about a meeting of Niyamgiri Suraksha Samiti where villagers from 50-60 villages took part. They vowed to continue their agitation even if Supreme Court allows Vedanta in the hearing on 9th April. They said supreme Court should know that Niyamgiri is the source of life for us and if Niyamgiri goes we will be finished. Tribals want to join Govt, abusive officers send them back!
Bindeshwari Painkra meets some Pahari Korwa adivasis who tell him that they are returning from collector’s office where they had gone to apply for job of peon which Govt has announced. Though they carried certificates from their Sarpanch but the officer sent them back using abusive language.
